While this store is ok, I thought the store across the street was better. The produce section here is smaller, and the staff are rude. I don't expect a grocery store clerk to be over-the-top with customer service, but it doesn't feel nice to be completely ignored while they blab with their buddies the entire time. Seriously, they didn't even acknowledge that I existed: no greeting, no bags offered, no telling me the total, just treated me like I was a ghost. If it was a teenager I would kind of get it, but nope everyone involved was old enough to know how wildly weird it is to treat people that way. I'm assigning two stars because the place was clean and nobody cursed at me I guess.

Go to Village Food across the street if you can. They have fresher food, and I’ve never experienced poor service there. I’ve visited the Western store a few times, and each time I left feeling awkward. The last time, I simply asked if I could take a cart to my car (I had bought more than I expected). The senior cashier responded in an unnecessarily rude and unprofessional way, questioning whether I would bring it back, instead of asking in a friendly, non-hostile manner. As I was leaving to get the cart for my groceries, I could hear her loudly making mocking remarks about it to the customer she was serving at the time. It was very uncomfortable.

Advertise one price and charge you another! Bananas 99c per kg but charged $2.18! I asked a member of staff which were the 99c bananas. Also overcharged for the tomatoes. Don't buy anything loose here as they make the prices up at the till.

I love this store. It’s great to pop by and grab exactly what I’m looking for! The staff are great as well

Obviously if you're getting your groceries in Sooke, you're going to pay a bit more.. that being said the produce at Western is top notch freshness and better prices than any Loblaw affiliates. I would give a 4.5 rating ONLY because the meat section is typically not the best, and pretty expensive on the whole, however they do have great sales. I picked up a bogo on pork tenderloins today, two for $6.40. not too shabby!

I shop here evey week to support my community. This Sooke store needs to use signage to inform it's customers which products are American - no info at all on the fruit and veg to show that.

Staff are great - management need to step up....Boycott USA.

Pretty outdated, dark and cramped but does the job...and the price is no better than neighbouring stores. Don't recommend the bakery though the workers are all lovely

Great little grocery store, good selection of items, ice and a little camping section, friendly staff, pre-made sandwiches. very nice.
