We discovered this butcher accidentally while driving around the Simcoe Ontario area. What a great discovery! The selection of meat is incredible and the prices are reasonable. They even had readily available rump roast which is very hard to find. Apparently there's a lot of labour required to get at the rump roast. So we got a rump roast and a couple of racks of pork ribs.

The counter person was knowledgeable friendly and accommodating.

We highly recommend VG meats and we'll be back for sure!

I had tried a number of other sources across this region of Ontario for ordering 1/4 beef animal, but my order would invariably end up as a disappointment as instructions were ignored. What a surprise it was to find this great location, VG Meats Simcoe, who completed my order to perfection and beyond. I wish I could tip them! They are an excellent butcher resource with reasonable prices when compared to other whole animal butchers. I traveled about an hour to VG Meats, but I've traveled previously up to 2 hours to find locally raised beef at various butchers.

I paid $6.08/lb of hung weight for 1/4 Front, which compares reasonably with other sources across the region. This included packaging, labeling of the cuts and dry aging the rib primal for 60 days, relieving me of the work to do the dry aging myself. Many other places require you to purchase either a half or whole animal which would require sufficient freezer space or the ability to split the meat with others. So, they met the requirement for me, the customer, who wished to buy only a quarter animal based on my available freezer space.

Not only does VG Meats provide custom butchering, but they sell the full range of retail meat products including individual steak cuts, roasts and sausages.

Did you know Picanha steaks are the most popular steak in meat loving Brazil where this cut is called the “Queen of Steaks”?

We grilled our picanha on the egg grill and wowwww, it was perfect and the taste!
Absolutely delicious. Fresh. Quality cut.
I did notice though that their pricing (for any type of meat, poultry or cut) is no different than at any Loblaws or specialty butcher shop in Toronto. It’s expensive but I would like to think I got what I paid for. Quality.
VG is supplying to several independent Toronto known restaurants offering a red meat option on their menus. It is how I discovered VG Meats.

We visited VGs to purchase some ground beef for potluck lasagna for my son,5pound of ground meat for 7$/pound cost us 40$ plus gst,pst of course.Next morning the meat lost all of its colour turned colourless in the refrigerator, when we pre-cooked the meat removed two cups of fatty lards .Well - we are more than disappointed - not happy.We are not going to return to VGs in the future - that is for sure. Staying with Costco or with De Koning Meat for future purchases. Food prices are high enough, but this is not acceptable !

Staff always delightful and knowledgeable. And usually something new to experience. Today was looking for healthy and different.
They steered me to Caldo Verde soup. Delicious! As well as the old standard thick cut bacon, curds, etc. 👍👍
