Moved here 2 years ago & did not think I would find a wine store like the one I left behind in Owen Sound. Amber & Andrew at Through the grapevine were truly a great team with awesome customer service! Was I wrong or what! The Bop Shop with Joanne & Jamie are a wonderful pair. So inviting, so clean so friendly, oh & the wine is Great!!

I was feeling quite adventurous this evening after a long day of work, so I decided to dabble in the wonderful world of Bibimbap. I'd read about it before and thought it looked interesting.

I ordered a Beef Bibimbap -Beef, Spinach, Daikon, Carrot, Shitake, Zuccini, Egg, with Gochujang.

First off - the rice was cooked to absolute perfection. It maintained a fluffy, firm texture, while simultaneously being just perfectly soft and moist - melting in my mouth with each bite.

Secondly, the Gochujang sauce. I was new to this as well, and it hit all the expected markers. Spicy without burning a hole in my palate, sweet without being cloyingly so, and combining joyously with the pickled ingredients to create an umami mouth-explosion!

Finally the vegetables and meat - The beef was cooked to perfection, with a subtle ginger aftertaste. Yum!. The veg were excellent as well - some cooked, some pickled, all great. Not soggy and oily as i've experienced from various Asian fusion style restaurants. The shitake mushrooms and Daikon were especially tasty - hitting those high notes, with a touch of vinegary goodness that dazzled my tastebuds as well as my eyes.

In summation - Bibimbap is quickly climbing the ranks of my favourite dishes. The folks at the Bop Shop really make the individual ingredients shine, while still allowing them to work in such perfect harmony. The portions were very generous, and yet, i didn't feel at all weighed down as you might after a greasier heavy meal. And all for a very reasonable price.

What an utter delight. I'm joyfully looking forward to trying their banana milk and honey-butter chips, which i am saving as a snack tomorrow.

TLDR: If you like to try new food, you MUST eat here.
