Sew Productive - Acton, ON

After getting assurances that they were up to the task over the phone, I took my vintage BERNINA 830 Record (that I purchased in 1980 brand new) to Sewproductive to have it cleaned and oiled. I acknowledge this was done (although the outside of the machine and the case and foot were not cleaned). I asked them to look at the tension adjustment and to fix an issue with the mechanism (clutch) that disengages the needle motion when winding a bobbin. They did not address these requests. I paid $170 which may be fair? for the work done. When picking up my machine I was told that they couldn’t test my machine because I didn’t leave a bobbin with them (never requested). The proprietors notes didn’t specify correctly what I was asking to be done and no work order/receipt was drawn up or provided.
I am very frustrated and disappointed with this unprofessional treatment and lack of clear communication and accountability.

Melinda is honestly one of the sweetest and most knowledgeable people I have met! Me and my sister went in today, we recently moved last year and because of our hectic lives we’ve barely gotten a chance to explore Acton. We are younger, and I know most small business owners can be a little hesitant of having younger crowds in stores ( which is completely understandable) except Melinda was so kind and welcoming! We just went in to look, but she said it’s nice to have younger people in here, and showed us her work and told her about what classes they offer, we exchanged stories and conversation for about 30-40 mins and it was so lovely! She has an amazing collection and stock of anything a sewing or fabric enthusiast could dream of, and her collection of fabrics and patterns are so unique, one of a kind, and such great quality! She also has beautiful indigenous styles fabric! We ended up picking up some super cool Harley Davidson Port Dover fabric for our dad’s birthday gift! This store has everything! They also offer so many community events! This is the place to go for all your sewing and creative needs! I understand why shopping local is soooo important! You are amazing Melinda! My sister and I had a pleasure meeting you and will be back!

I love going to this shop. It is so nice to have access to the wonderful material and seeing supplies she offers in store. Melinda is wonderful to deal with. She always takes her time to help find what I am looking for. She always is there with a huge smile to greet you and offers friendly service. Highly recommend

I took the introduction to sewing class with Jen and she is AMAZING! So knowledgeable and patient. Each week we made a little project and I had soooooo much fun

Also, I had to miss a class and they were so flexible with letting me make it up at a different time.

Top notch store. Quality fabrics. Wide variety of sewing and embroidery machines. Including a longarm machine! Warm and friendly atmosphere! Classes are fun too!
