I made the terrible mistake of having Paul Matthews and his company Roo-Can install glass guards in my house. We stressed that having stamped BC engineered drawings for the project was essential. He promised multiple times in writing that he would do this as part of his quote and ensure what he installed met these standards.

He subsequently told me in person in his office that the engineering was done and he ordered the glass. After the job was “done”, he told me everything was completed and he would provide the engineering drawings to us and our project engineer.

We found out he never got the railings engineered at all by a BC engineer even though he charged us an extra $2,500 to have the engineering done. We hired our own engineer and found out what was installed was not safe and definitely did not meet industry standards and could easily shatter. We inquired as to this and why he lied about having the engineering done and his response was “you should know better than to rely on what I orally told you.” Then later he changed it to claim “I did what I was supposed to.”

We hired 3 different engineers to confirm there was no way to salvage what was done. We then were forced to hire another company to take down the glass he installed and reinstall tempered and laminated glass as was required to meet safety and engineering standards.

He refused to remedy this or provide a reasonable solution and seemed proud of the fact he screwed us over. This guy is as crooked and as unethical as possible. I would strongly advise avoiding doing business with them.
