Had him do some machine work and engine assembly a few years ago. I had head work done elsewhere end I was still charged a huge amount of $$ for so little work. Promised the blue prints and never provided, ARP head studs were torqued under 90ft lbs (120ft lbs needed) and this caused head lift and damage to the top end. Protrusion was measured and henddint even deck the block to being the engine within spec. The Pistons sit 0.35" lower than the lowest head gasket spec. Would never recommend to anyone. He also took so long but agian, didn't even do a proper job.

Did an engine rebuild but skipped steps and didn't even deck the block into spec. Damaged a crank seal which soaked the timing belt then said he would pay to have it fixed and skipped on paying that bill. Go elsewhere, this guy is not worth going to.

I'm in the U S, Port Angeles to be exact. Before Covid , over two years ago I did the research on this business and at that time he looked legit. During both countries "lock downs" it was too complicated to have this engine rebuilt at his shop. I put a hold on this project. December of 2021 I began to start this project again. I sent this shop a $4,000 dollar (US $) deposit to begin work on a block he said he had in stock. With the easing of the lock down we made a projected date for me to bring my vehicle to his shop in Canada. Ten days before our agreed job start his phone was unhooked. At that time I got real nervous. I traveled to Victoria, drove up to this shop to see what was going on. Arrived early afternoon.. Found this shop with nobody around. The owner Dave came out of neighboring house with a lady and after introductions we went to his a very unorganized shop. I asked to see the shot block he was supposedly was working on and he said it wasn't there. At that time I was reluctant to leave my vehicle in his possession. We US citizens to not have the same abilities legally in Canada, with out going thru complicated expensive measures to deal in these situations. After backing out of this deal, Dave said he would sell this supposed engine and return some of my deposit. You can guess the rest.

Guy definitely knows what he's talking about. Was a little sceptical after reading past reviews, but his performance and quick turnaround time means I will continue to use his service. He seems to be one of few in the area who use the torque plate method of boring and honing. Also his technical understanding of the Nissan RB engine had me sold. His shop is not pretty and don't look like much but his work is outstanding! Thank you pro power!

Had Propower in Saanich rebuild my old GM 4-bolt main 350 block. When it come to the cylinder heads, he told me that the heads I provided were no good for the build since the ports were too big. Then mentioned he had some GM 441 head cores kicking around the machine shop he would sell me for the engine. I agreed. Well I ended up pulling one of the valve covers to check the casting numbers and discovered they're not 441 heads like he told me they were. They're GM 416 heads from a 305 engine. I should of checked right fresh from the shop upon pickup.

A huge thank you to Dave and his assistant for their work on my 2004 Land Rover Discovery. I originally brought my LR into Pro-Power with the infamous “tick tick” of a slipped cylinder sleeve. The repair work required a total engine tear down/rebuild. Despite several setbacks as a result of sketchy repair jobs done by the previous owner, the work was still able to be completed at a high standard and on budget. After the initial rebuild, a couple parts related defects came up. After a quick email to Dave, he was able to correct these faults in a timely manner with no questions asked. Several months after the initial rebuild, the LR is going strong. I would highly recommend Pro-Power Engine & Machine for any major engine machining/repair.

I can only say STAY AWAY from PRO POWER. This company is unorganized, unprofessional and refuses to stand behind their product. They cannot even produce a receipt for a motor in which he built for a 5 digit cost. If you care about your vehicle in any way shape or form do yourself a favour and go see a real professional. These guys have done it to others before and they will do again.

Absolutely, hands down, best private marine mechanic in all of Vancouver Island. Had a Searay which needed repowering. Pro power not only repowered it but made the boat functional for our needs. This guy knows what he's doing. Amazing knowledgable mechanic.
