Our families water journey...
Two years ago, I was using tap water and had forgotten a pot of water boiling. When I came back, it had been reduced to a putrid grey sludge with a sheen on top. My pot had white rings all down the side, and it was absolutely disgusting!
I knew immediately that something needed to be done for the well-being of my kids.
So we started with brita, it was mid. Then we upgraded to the zero water filter, and I really liked it for a while. We tested our tap water ppm at 175, the brita lowered it to about 75. And the zero was obviously zero ppm.
However, lately, when I boil the zero water, it smells fishy, so much mu son could smell it upstairs. Once again, I knew something had to get done.
I've been to the polar bear store before, but the cost of a distillation machine is too much at the moment for us.... so here we are. Manually pumping water from a jug, which is not ideal. It feels like I need to go all the way to the well now every time I want a drink. We need to work a little bit for our fresh water.
Strangely enough, it's very rewarding, and tastes great.

My grandparents and parents had Polar Bear Distillers that worked fantastic. So I decided to buy one too. But they are no more. Now the distillers are of a different brand and poor quality. I contacted and brought in the $2100 distiller I bought at this location for warranty a week after I set it up at home. The issues were a fan that was scraping against something and a constant water leak at the tap. About 2 cups every 24 hours. Apparently it's been serviced, but it still has the problems. Either I've been sold a faulty item or the technicians don't know what they are doing. I live 2.5 hours outside of Edmonton, so this has been a lot of running back and forth. They also forgot to place the cover on the water tank which I just found out once I got back home.

A good variety of items. However, it has the oddest customer service I have ever encountered. The old hidden Ehrlicks equestrian shop ( think Diagon Alley ) in downtown Toronto now moving to second place. This too seems hidden. The Polar Bear says water to me, not alternative health products and spiritual gear, but I digress.

It's not usual to be making a purchase of several items and leave feeling scolded for buying 'the last one' of something that now will 'have to be replaced. Nor is it usual to be told you cant touch a potential purchase to see how it feels to hold in case you scratch it or get finger prints on it. Okay...scratched merchandice does have the potential to end up as a mark down. But, frankly if its that easy to scratch, how good is it? Yet one staff couldnt stop taking the item away and handling it herself. With paper. At one point I had three people huddled around me at the counter. And ones a hugger. The latter being a abuloys human...but no more hugs please.She has helped me with purchasing numerous items I've been very satisfied with. Just saying whoa on the hugs.

All and all, I'll continue to go back, because I like this store and the products. However the people are characters. Good people, just not your typical sales folks lol! Then again, I'm not exactly a typical human myself. Just be prepared. It's worth a visit.

Update; I just realized that for the price I paid for two of their chajra tuning forks, that I could have bought the entire set of seven online. Thats 3.5 to 1 pricing. 🙁

They had exactly what I needed and the parts came well packed and and in reasonable time through Canada post. I will definitely be using them again. Thank you.

Absolutely love this store! Truly a hidden gem amongst 118th Ave! The woman that is often at the front is one of the most kind, loving and friendly people I’ve ever met! Every time my boyfriend and I go in for water we end up staying an extra 20 minutes just talking to her. She’s so genuine and kind to every single person that walks through the door, truly a beautiful soul and I will always come back 💖💖
