I needed a rear hitch installed on a fifth wheel trailer i had purchased near dawson creek. I reached out to nor tech for a quote prior to making the 8 hour drive to pick it up and they told me no problem but would need to see the trailer before quoting the job. Had the seller drop it off on a Thursday, phoned in Monday to see if they had a chance to take a look and mike informed me the job was already completed. The bill was $1700.00, which was $600 higher than a local shop in calgary had charged my friend for the same install a month ago. I asked mike to walk me through what went into this install to justify the extremely high cost, his response was "no matter how our conversation goes the price isn't going to change, you don't like it do it yourself next time". I paid the bill in full and had the trailer picked up, upon delivery these were the results in the photos. Trailer hose was left in the bumper during the weld job (wrecked the sewer hose), top of bumper was spray painted but the bottom underside was clearly missed which is already starting to rust. Welds aren't the full length of the support bar, just tacked in several places about an inch weld. Labour sheet lists 6.5 hours of labour with 3 of those hours on wiring which is a 30 foot length of cable with about 6 self taper screws into the frame. Very dissapointed in how the situation was handled when I was upset at no call for a quote, the quality of work relative to the high price, lack of communication and overall experience using a mom and pops local shop instead of feeding business to the bigger fab shops (something I usually try to avoid). Don't go to nor tech, there must be a better option local to dawson than this place.
