Small bakery with a very nice and passionate owner. their sourdough bread is really good, even as I arrived at the end of the day.

Their mini cheese cake is really good too with home made topping. will come back to try their lunch sandwiches next time.

Lucky to have this bakery in the neighbourhood !
The butter tart was to die for and the cinnamon swirl had the perfect crumbly topping, I also tried the sourdough bread which was amazing as well, Laura’s story as a business owner is truly inspiring !

Love Modern General. The goods are fantastic and Laura (the baker and proprietor) is a trip. Worth the visit, especially for the croissants and baguettes. It’s great when seemingly simple food is elevated to art. After seeing the discussion about butter tarts in these reviews I had to try one. It was delicious. Worth your money for sure.

I am so happy to have this gem in Beaverbrook! Tried the sourdough bread, egg bites, and cookies today and was really impressed. The prices, the service, the selection was excellent. Can't wait to come back !

Just dropped in to check it out and were so impressed with the owner/baker/?Laura that we went back a few days later for a baguette. It was excellent, so we went back again for a whole wheat loaf. It was the best! Needless to say, we’ll be regulars. We are so lucky to have such a great business in our neighborhood!

Mmm mmm mmm delicious! I stumbled across this little bakery after a tip from the Kanata Barber shop (isn't this the best way to discover new places) and despite apologies from the owner that they were low on stock I had a delightful cheese croissant and beef sausage roll, both of which were wonderful.

And best of all I received this little note, which at first I thought was a complement, but turned out to be a gift voucher for my next visit.....

The best places are those that are unassuming, with people that care passionately about their craft and I'm happy to have found another one!
