Beautiful location on the harbour of Tobermory! Fun finds to discover, indulge in and purchase for yourself and for gifts. Have purchased goodies and gorgeous clothes each season there! Highly recommend it’s a destination all in itself with the large eclectic boutique and Inn. A not to miss spot!

The owner lives in a lift above. She complains about the floors creaking when you get up to go to the bathroom at night. The owner is also controlling and very snobby and arrogant. Treats her employees very poorly. There is only 1 entrance/exit which is a fire Hazzard. Bathroom window looks out into her clothing store and she complains when you close the blind for privacy. There is free parking on the property in the back, but the owner stresses that she prefer that you use the paid parking on the street. The only entrance/exit is through her air b n b downstairs so it is inconvenient when there are guests in the air b n b. There is nowhere to cook and the owner has not provided such. The house is leaning the floors are like rocking ship on the water. Doors slam shut because of the leaning structure. The doors between the inn rooms and the the air b n b downstairs are to be kept open so there is no audio privacy and everything is loud on both ends. The hall lights are motion sensor operated, but the one in the stairway is faulty and has been.sinve day one. The owner has refused to replace it with a properly working one.||Our stay there this past week was horrible, as after paying an outrageous price per night for a tiny cramped bedroom with a shared bathroom, we still had to eat out every meal (which was super expensive for 7 dayz) because there is no cooking area provided, we also had to pay for parking because the owner preferred it that way so she could use the inn parking for herself and friends and family. We also had to.listen to her treat her husband and wife team of employees horribly. Accusing the husband of stealing her wallet when she later found it in her own loft/bedroom. She was very mean to him and she was talking badly of him to his wife and to us (the clients). The owner was also very rude and short with us when we asked her not to talk to.us about the employees, that this was our vacation and she shouldn't be talking about her employees business with her customers /clients. We found this to be very immature and unprofessional on her part. Another way to describe the owner is "very hostile" towards others. After speaking with a few other business owners around town and asking bout the owner of the Belrose in, it was clear that she also treats other business owners and employees of other business very rudely and arrogant as well. She is not very well liked in town. Anyway I cod go on for.another page or 2 but I think I've made my point. Only one other thing, is that the piwer outlets seem to be out of date with cheap newer covers. This tells me that the electrical wiring is also probably out of date. This place is scary and our stay was uncomfortable and unpleasant, to say the least. I chalk this up as a financial loss due to highway robbery and and being forced to eat out and use paid parking. That being said I will never use the Belrose Inn in tobermory ontario, ever ever ever ever again, And I wouldn't recommend anyone else waste their hard earned money to stay in this "DUMP" There are much nicer up to date,drama free places in Tobermory. I'd honestly rather sleep in my car than ever experience this place again!!!!

I had so much fun in this shop today. I was overwhelmed with the selection of fun and cute clothes. The layout is fun too with that secret room and a room full of fancy hats! Lots of organic fair trade hippy clothes and lots of different flowy beautiful pieces of all kinds. The size selection is great too. I’ve been in so many stores where an XL won’t even nearly fit me and this store has a variety of sizes and styles. I could have spent half a day exploring. I wish i took pictures. Theres clothes and accessories from floor to ceiling and also well organized. Good work! And what a kind shop owner. I didn’t get her name, she was a big help finding what I was interested in. Thank you 🙂

UPDATE

I reached out to the owner as she requested. We texted back and forth and I expressed that I had no intention of ruining her shops reputation, but I was disappointed that I’d spent $50 on a crop top and it disintegrated.

I did actually attempt to reach out via email but there wasn’t an email on the website months ago when this happened.

I didn’t appreciate the accusatory messages she sent, saying I was trying to ruin her business. She kept trying to guilt me by saying she’s been working long hours and had to find out over coffee this morning that I’d left a negative review. When she was waking up ready to “spread love” today. She kept reiterating I’d left an “awful” review and accusing me of being angry and rude online “bashing” her business.

It felt very emotionally manipulative. I feel that this could have been resolved in a much more mature and respectful way. This is not the customer service I’d expect. I’m a reasonable person and would have been happy to take the review down all together but the owner wasn’t very nice in her texts.

That said, she offered to send an e-transfer and refund me. I let her know that if she wants me to update the review then I’ll accept the e-transfer but that was NEVER my end goal. I just wanted to express my experience and my disappointment in the product I’d bought.

Passive aggressively, the security question was “what do people need?” And the answer was “respect”. I found this also to be unprofessional but am updating the review because at least I got my money back I guess. *

I purchased a shirt here on the weekend. It was very expensive considering it was just a crop tank top. It was $39 plus tax. I wore it out of the store, and I got to the cottage I noticed there was a hole in the side of the shirt. I didn’t want to take it back because the lady was so nice, and thought I’d just sew it. Throughout the day, more little holes appeared. When I took it off, they ripped even more. I realized the material was falling apart in my hands. It literally disintegrated when I went to hand wash it, thinking I’d be sewing the holes later. I didn’t go back as I didn’t have time to. I also fully expected to just sew the hole when I got back home from the weekend. I didn’t think it was worth going back for one hole and bothering the owner over something so small.

I am posting a video, I’m using a few fingers and it’s just falling apart. I’m not even trying to rip it. Just show how crazy it is. I’ve never seen anything like this. It was like moths had eaten at it or something. I was going to email the store but there wasn’t an email on the website. There goes $50…..

My partner and I took a road trip with our dogs and we made a point to check out pet friendly businesses on the main strip. Right from the get-go, they were very accommodating with our dogs, and chatted with us for a bit. Very positive atmosphere, very unique products, very friendly staff. I had no intention of purchasing, but I was really drawn to their sustainable model. Most of their clothes are made from 100% cotton, or hemp (from what I saw), and they made me deviate from my typical wardrobe, and I don't regret it one bit. The items I purchased are very comfortable and high quality. My partner also looks great in the sun dress she picked out. I wish they had an online storefront I could order from. I think they had a website, but their hosting is either expired or down. Would love it if they could get that sorted out and have online ordering so I could give them my money.

This shop is SO beautiful!!! Lots of clothing selection! Everything is displayed so neatly and the customer service was above and beyond! I found a beautiful dress here that I was able to try on before purchasing!! Would highly recommend!

my wife and I went in to look around because she just wanted a pair of casual pants in case the weather got cool. the sales lady took her back to try them on and 20 min later the lady had her dressed in a gorgeous new outfit that upon seeing it, i had to buy it for her. koodos to the sales lady, you have a great fashion sense and my wife loves the new outfit.

Very disappointed in how Shelley dealt with a legitimate complaint.
A pair of slippers I bought there, which I wore for only a week, started to break down with the finish peeling off. Since I lived too far away to bring them back I sent her an email describing the problem with photos of the shoes. This led to a phone conversation in which she said a refund could not be issued unless I mailed the defective shoes back - which I did.
I heard nothing after that and could not reach her.
She seems very proud that her business has lasted 27 years. Most of her customers are tourists and she can get away with ignoring complaints even if legitimate ones.
