I really like this place. To give some context to this review, I usually shop for soft-type fabrics and miscellaneous threads/zippers/etc... — very little upholstery or denim or anything like that. Whenever I go visit the fashion district in Toronto, it's with a specific project in mind: clothes making, repairing things, or some ongoing fandom project. While it's difficult to shop on a grad student stipend, I have never felt guilty about anything I got from here. I always manage to find exactly what I'm looking for, and I'm really happy about it. Partly, I think it's because King Textiles is stocked with a variety of stuff, but mostly, I appreciate that the people who work there are knowledgeable and patient. I've never felt pressured to make a purchase. The folks who work there are just chill like that. I've always been able to browse until I found exactly what I've been looking for.

There's a young and older woman who works there and this other guy who kinda looks like nickolodean-era Jhonen Vasquez. The young woman was really friendly to chat with, and she helped picked out some threads with me. A few times, I was looking for some cotton, and the older woman knew exactly what I was looking for! The guy who works there is awesome as well. He's always offering to pull out rolls to help you colour match or something like that.

A lot of textile stores in this neighbourhood carry a variety of stuff, but this place really has everything. Whoever came up with the layout of this place must've known the Minotaur in their past life, because despite the square footage of the building, it's stacked to the ceilings like a labyrinth. There's even a shop dog.

Anyway, my point is, if you like to take your time to find the right thing you need, King Textiles is awesome. If you are a quiet shopper who likes to browse, then this is probably the most nonchalant place you'll find in this neighbourhood.

First time visiting the shop and really enjoyed my experience. This is a space you can easily get lost in (in a good way) as it’s packed with fabrics floor to ceiling. The staff were so friendly and helpful, patiently answered all my questions, efficiently helped me pick out matching threads and needles for my project. Can’t wait to visit again!

Sadly, this place is not what it used to be. It’s quite a small store and very limited dressy fabrics. The silk section is at the front of the store and is quite limited. Plus, it’s behind a stanchion so you have to ask for assistance before touching. Apparently this is the sale location. I wish the gentleman told me when I asked about the selection. 🙁

I just wanted to repost my review as it seems it was removed for some reason, but that's how bad my experience was. The customer service at this place is downright combative. A woman yelled at me because I wasn't holding a basket for my 1 item. Literally yelled, I'm not exagerrating.

Also, she was telling another woman who already knew what she wanted to get that she knew better than her because she worked for a long time.

If you look at their terms of service on their website, you will see that they don't offer refunds ever. That should tell you all you need to know.

First off I am not a sower of any kind. I just need to pick-up some fabric for a little project I was doing.

When I walked in a young woman greeted me as she was taking care of someone else with a "hi. Feel free to have a look around and I'll come to check on you when I'm finished with these people". Very pleasant and I didn't feel in anyway put out. About 5 minutes later and she stops by to see if she can help. After telling her about my project she took me around to show some suggestions for about 10 minutes. Found a nice piece of fabric. When I mentioned that I also need some pillow stuffing she told me that they were sold out at the moment but suggested another store and told me to make sure I ask for a specific type.

All in a very helpful experience and a pleasure to have been at.

I confess I only ever ordered from here once, it was an online order and I came to pick it up. But wow, was I ever impressed with the beauty and quality of the fabric I received. I can't even explain it. It certainly matched the photos but far exceeded my expectations anyway. It was packed quickly and with immense care, and though I picked it up a week late there was absolutely no issue. I certainly hope to shop here more often now, can't recommend their embroidered silk chiffon enough (and I believe the price was very reasonable, too)

i left my bag there a couple days ago and they held onto it for me! amazing customer service and great prices plus they have a huge selection of fabrics. definitely recommend!

This place is a goldmine! The fabrics are beautiful, high quality, and decently priced. And SO MANY choices! You can find anything in this store! And there's a shop dog! He was very gentle and loving 🙂
