This is a go-to store of mine for anything that needs a quick fix around the house or items that go on sale. There always seems to be in-store offers for many of their products; mainly seasonal, lighting, tools, and flooring. The service at the Mount Pearl location is what always makes me inclined to return.

While the choices are abundant and the regular prices are fairly good, the service here is what gives this place the edge. Where I am currently in the process of doing some major home renovations, Kent will be a standout for anything I need in a bind or even to complete the aesthetics.

If you happen to be in the store, you can get some really great help from Doreen, Garry, Greg, and Verley in hardware, Kevin in plumbing, Chris in flooring, Robin in seasonal, and Greg in appliances. These people are excellent to talk to when looking for assistance and will always do their best to help in any way they can. It's the service that keeps me coming back, time and time again. Although I haven't visited the project desk much, they are always great at helping and conveying any ideas you are thinking about with regard to your home projects. Ryan and Corey on the contractors desk are also very knowledgeable and great to speak with, even in passing.

The store is also laid out nicely now that the renovation process is complete. It took a while for it to be completed, and I know many people were unhappy with the time it took, but the finished product is good. It's much tidier and organized compared to the nearby Home Depot. I found out recently (first hand) that their Weiser products are actually superior quality-wise compared to online retailers. So, if you are looking to save a bit of money online through a giant like Amazon, it generally isn't worth it. The locks we bought were at a tremendous discount, but they have since been returned as the quality and durability has diminished almost from day one. So, support local!

One attention to detail that would give this place a perfect score is the exterior lot and surrounding area. This store is certainly elevated so the winds can be very high; however, garbage from the lot blows in all directions - whether it be out onto the street, down the hills, or into nearby business lots. Their lumber yard seems to be partly responsible, but, since moving the majority of their items inside, it has improved slightly. It would be nice to see the area looked after and given more consideration.

Kent's are never the cheapest place to buy materials in St John's. Their in store service is terrible. I now just go to Home Depot, they are not cheap but Kent's are always more expensive along with poor service.
I priced two glass inserts it took three days to get the price (everyone else gave me the price in 24 hours) and it was double what I bought them for, and yes the same product. That's Irving's for you.

I love this Store. My Daughter & I were in Newfoundland visiting for family business ( paradise Area ) for 9 weeks & no word of a lie, we were @ this kents @ least 4 times a week. But in the mean time the employees were great. We wish we had a Kent's in Ontario.

Staff Friendly and Knowledgable. The prices were good. Got in and out of the store in under 20 minutes.

Biggest rip off ever.. stay away. Paid for a couch and free delivery was included when I put in my address. My address was with in the 50km range. But i gets a call from kents saying it's a extra 350 dollar delivery cost on top of what I paid for the couch. The biggest rip offs. Buyer beware. STAY AWAY

I made an appointment last week for a kitchen consultation at Kent in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland. The appointment was for today, October 12, 2024, at 2:00pm (I have my email confirmation/reminder attached).

We drove over an hour to get to this appointment, only to be told that their kitchen specialist does not even work on Saturdays! Apparently, they only work Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. However, when we were there last weekend, a lady who works there told us that they do take Saturday appointments, and so I then scanned the appointment QR code and proceeded to make the appointment for today.

And the staff at that Kent location said there was nothing they could do. So, we just lost about 2.5 hours of our time, plus fuel, just to be turned away! This type of customer service is completely unacceptable!

Prices are great compared to my area! Saved almost half price on our decking with delivery and all tools included! Karen at the desk is absolutely wonderful, she explained everything to a T! Delivery was on time and went smoothly. Definitely reccomend this location 🙂
