Gotta love a family owned business. Jerry is probably one of the nicest and most helpful people I’ve had the pleasure of doing business with. Filled up my propane, got some RV tank treatment. We talked about solar, batteries and inverters for my camper. Again just an absolute pleasure to deal with. Would recommend for anyone who’s passing through with their RV.

Long post * warning *

I hate to have to do this but really hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else because of shody business.

In the fall of 2022 we bought a full off Grid solar package from Free energy in Golden and paid cost upfront (first mistake) as when we requested the quote we were told prices likely would go up because of economy and covid and if there would be significant price increaseses our quote at the time may not be the same if we waited.

At the time we weren't quite ready on our build and had to still dig trenches for lines and put in posts for the bifacial panels we were getting before we could install the following spring early summer.

Trusting this company we paid over 22k while thinking we were supporting a local business. Months then now over 2 years have rolled by and when asking for our stuff it kept getting pushed “not this month”
“not this season” we contacted him again also he said he was waiting for permits from BC hydro so I called BC hydro and they told me no application was made for a permit for our residence. We are now going over 2 year mark
 Thad had also told us he would have our money after 90 days for a refund then 90 days past so we contacted him again to which Thad said 15 more days till he gets paid from another job, that 15 days came and went and left us on a cliff hanging quote “ its like the money doesn't exist.” (so where did the money and equipment go?)

We kept trying to call or text without responses so we keep going down there try and get the matter rectified (money back or equipment) and we keep getting told by his dad that Thad will be in contact and yet he still has not made the effort to contact us. Thad Has not made a plan on how he will rectify the situation. Nor has he provided us with the refund paper work he promised.
We’ve given numerous chances and told numerous dates as to when this would be rectified, while it has not.

I'm done playing games now and staying silent because I’m hoping the owner will rectify and do the right thing as clearly he doesn't have intentions to do so.

Last time we went in mid January this past month they had new solar panels in, the owner’s father said maybe they can start by giving us the panels (which only accounts for $4100 of the 22k) we said we wanted to talk it over with Thad and try to rectify the matter with a plan forward as soon as possible, he assured us Thad was going to contact us by end of the week and once again we are going on week 2 and once again never heard from him!

We have worked so hard to be able to get solar its been a rough ride and now its gone and the owner seems to evade accountability and communication. How are they allowed to operate? After putting down our deposit we have since heard we aren't the only ones as there are people with grievances with this company. I have never felt so angry and hopeless. I really wish we would have done way more research, we thought we could trust local business.

I'm fed up and hope to warn others as to how this company has treated us!
Proceed with caution at this place.. now we are left bearing the burden of such a loss and not to mention all the stress over trying to be in contact to get accountability. We'd hate for it to happen to someone else.

We needed a new propane hose from our tank to the regulator on our old tent trailer. A local told us about Free Energy and the owner had just what we needed. He was knowledgeable and kind. It wasn't quite long enough so he sold us a different hose and gave us an adapter to put on the end. We had a lovely chat and in the end it all worked and we are set! Thank you Free Energy!

Use extreme caution when doing business with Thad. Seemed friendly but our experience was not positive. Gave a $300 deposit to hold an item for 72 hours. 30 hours later, told him we're not going to purchase. He continually assured returning the deposit which never came. He has stopped responding altogether. Be Very Careful.
