Bought turkey cranberry sausages last week from their freezer. 4 sausages were $18.51. Very pricey, but we have had them before, and liked them very much and get them for a treat once in a while.
This time they were so salty we couldn’t eat them(and I love lots of salt usually). I called and spoke to the woman owner and explained to her all of the above, but she refused to refund them. I had saved the cooked sausages to bring them in to prove this to her, along with the package and bill. But still a “no “ on any refund. Unfortunate, because I definitely won’t buy here again and I’m trying very hard to buy local.

What a great find. This is the largest butcherbshop i've ever been in. Great selection of fresh meat and frozen as well, as sausages raw, smoked etc, pepperoni, cheese, kolbassa,....ALL MADE ON SITE!!! I purchased some Irish bacon and some double-smoked bacon to compare. The Irish was amazing, delicately flavoured while the double-smoked exploded with flavour without tasting like someone had soaked it in liquid smoke the way many factory-smoked bacons are. And there was no water and little melted fat in the skillets. Dinner tonight will be smoked turkey sausage with baked beans. This long-time family business is a really great find.

The bacon and fresh-counter meats are terrific. The smoked bacon is incredible, really.

But I bought a bunch of frozen chicken from the freezer before returning to Victoria, as I figured it would be better than Thrifty’s, but every single pack of the chicken has had a whiff of chicken that was in the display for one day too many. I’m extremely disappointed and will never buy their chicken frozen again. Any butcher worth their salt could have smelled that it was past the best.

It’s frustrating because my other experiences with their food were all positive.

Went there for a fathers day porterhouse steak a few years ago, the butcher went and pulled out and entire side on the hook and pully, climbed up on his stepladder and carved me out a porterhouse steak as thick as a box of baking soda. I was so happy and have been a happy customer ever since

Fantastic pork selection! One of the few places that sells pork WITH the rind (cracklings) on and easily worth the trip. They are quite happy to French a rib roast and will present it beautifully. A delightful store for any carnivore!

Quality of meats is always excellent - especially the pork and lamb, but the beef is quite good too. Also, because they butcher whole carcasses, you can get the more 'exotic' cuts here without any trouble. Staff are helpful and will cut for you if you don't see what you're looking for. Also, if you're into the 'fifth quarter' and nose to tail cuisine, you can get your hearts, kidneys, tongues, etc. here. Lamb's kidneys are especially good.

Smoked products, sausages, meatballs, jerky, etc., all great too!
