Avoid if you are a contractor looking to send work in, the owner herself will tell people who aren't on your invoice or in your company what they billed you on a specific job. Unacceptable.

Sadly, I had a pretty bad experience here. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you get quotes in writing and in detail. I called to inquire about having my forklift cylinder rebuilt. I was asked about the size and type so I explained the cylinder was approx 48" long x 5" diameter and also explained that the cylinder had some minor nicks in it. The owner quoted me $500-$600 dollars assuming that the piston was straight and all it needed was chroming, polishing and seals.

To be clear, this cylinder didn't drift or leak any appreciable amount. As this seemed affordable, I decided to remove the cylinder and bring it in. A couple of days later I got a call that it would be $1100 plus tax. As can be understood, I was shocked as I included the seals that I already had for them to use so I expected it to be at worst less than $600 unless it needed other work or more parts.

I inquired as to why it was DOUBLE  the original quote. She explained the cylinder needed a little welding on the end and rechroming. I explained that this was extremely far from the quote and asked why, as with the exception of an hour of welding and machine time at $125/hr, this didn't add up. I never did get a straight answer or explanation other than it needed more work.

It was clear to me that despite it needing a small weld repair on the very end of the piston and rechroming, there just wasn't any legitimate reason for the massive discrepancy between the quote and the revised quote. As a result, I retrieved my cylinder in pieces, paid my $250 bill, for essentially nothing except disassembly. I really feel lied to and misled, like once they had your item, they could charge as they pleased and you basically were stuck. I regret not having gotten it in writing and not checking their reviews. Lesson learned, I have quite a few other pieces of equipment that I intend to have redone,  looks like the coastal shops are the ones getting my business from here on forward.

Watch there billing. Very heavy handed.Will not be using there service again. Highly recommend getting a firm quote in writting and have them authorize any extra costs. By there words they charged $200 for a simple disassembly on a 14" ram. Thats 1.5 They hr or better to take it a part.

This is not the first time they have done this job. Price was quoted the same as the first time they were asked to "quote as per drawing" that included the grinding, as it did before.

The communication is the issue. Delivery is also an issue and bills come higher than quoted. All in all, not easy to deal with.

This is one of the best machine shops in town. Had a cylinder repaired at a hydraulic shop in Kamloops it failed shortly after took it to central interior rebuilders performed a very quick repair. Great service!!
