Lovely little supermarket with so much product, most all local. Love the variety of store cooked meals, ingredients such as Moose, rabbit, fresh cod, salt cod, seal fluppers, bottled Moose! And the desserts are to die for! Staff very friendly and helpful...a wonderful shopping experience!

The small town grocery stores are the best .everyone going around with a smile on their faces. Fresh products stocked up nicely. The baked goods will have you there for a while trying figure out what one your going to try cause there is so many to choose from. Nice little eat in area too . Get a delicious homemade meal 😋. Great spot in the goulds .

This is the best place in Newfoundland for real Newfoundland food . I went on Thursday and got the moose pie. I ate it all in one sitting. Came back the next day to get jiggs pie and a flipper pie. Also fish and brews and all kind of baked goods. Ate a partridge berry too. It was fantastic . And the amount of savory for sale was incredible. I bought 3 large bags to take back home to Florida. I will be back soon to Newfoundland and will have many stops at Bidgood's.

Well organized grocery store.....known for their bread and baked goods.....if you haven't tried there carrot cake I highly recommend it!!! Its delicious 👍

Love this place! Newfoundland meals can be bought here. Take out or ask to warm it up. You can eat in. They gave us plates for salad and warmed rabbit pie! Wonderful selection in a grocery store!

A must visit if in St John's. It is actually in Gould, a bit of a drive but well worth it, maybe not for Vegans ;-). Saying it is a grocery store is an understatement. We considered it a tourist destination. Where else can you get Moose, Rabbit, Seal Flipper, Hard Tack, Brewis, Jiggs Dinner, Touton. The meat pies and stews were wonderful and we ended up going back several times. Brewis was much better than I had imagined. We have only been to one other such a unique grocery store in Louisiana which had alligator, venison, and a multitude of Boudin. Reasonable prices. We just wanted to try some traditional Newfoundland foods and this is the place.

Bidgoods is a provincial treasure. An independent grocery store so old that it's grandfathered in on a few things, permitting them to sell locally hunted game and prepared foods using them. Thus, it is the only place I know of where you can legally buy moose, rabbit, seal, and other meats, either on their own or prepared into pies, stews, and bottled preserves.

Doubling down on the 'for Newfoundland' theme, much of their other products are produced specifically for the local market with ingredients or styles which reflect our traditional cuisine. Here you will find foods not typically seen elsewhere for sale, and some items which were once commonly made in kitchens across the island generations ago, but which sadly are rarely if ever homemade today. If you want to rediscover old memories of traditional Newfoundland food, this is the place to go.
