Automated Entertainment takes up to 20% - 50% restocking fees on returns that I was not aware of when making a recent purchase of Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2 bookshelf speakers (through Amazon). Seller would not issued a return slip on my purchase without threat of these fees.

Their policy showing 20% - 50% restocking fees can be found on their Amazon product page - click "Automated Entertainment" then look under "about seller". It appears 20% can even apply to unopened product and then up to 50% at their discretion if opened. Unfortunately I did not dig this deep before ordering.

Seller did contact me to say he would potentially try to reduce fees or minimize them but no promise to waive them. It is my sense in discussions with this seller that they are more interested in charging the restocking fees than trying to minimizing them - perhaps looking to monetize the return process.

These fees should be disclosed more clearly to buyers at checkout rather than broadsiding them when applying for a return. Reputable electronic retailers such as Best Buy for example, do not charge such fees.

ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 purchased this week are simply incredible. Absolutely excellent, neutral, no boom and sizzle, natural sounding speakers. I've owned more audio equipment than you can imagine for one person through many past years. As a musician, electronic hobbiest and a dedicated audiophile enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction for over 50 years, just buy these! I should have bought them a long time ago. The best thing about my Amazon Elac purchase was the supplier Automated Entertainment in Ontario who ensured delivery within a few days. They were also great and easy to contact by phone for information about my speakers. Automated Entertainment Canadian audio company deserves a 100% and 5 star rating. I will definitely do business with them again.
