I have nothing but GOOD things to say about Around the Block!! I’ve been wanting to start sewing for a while now, and they offer everything a beginner needs! I’ve done both the beginner/newbie class and the beginner quilting class. They offer a variety of times which suited my shift work schedule which was a plus. The instructors were so helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. I was nervous walking in because all I could do basically was turn on a machine, but they teach you everything. They are organized, by sending out your supply list prior to class, and also very accommodating. The classes were so fun with the most friendly staff you could ask for, and I look forward to doing another class next year! Can’t recommend this shop enough!! If you’ve been wanting to start this hobby for a while now like me, check them out!

I have shopped at "Around The Block" many times since Karen first opened her business. I have to say the customer service from her and her staff is phenomenal. Dropped in there last week and not only did I get some beautiful fabrics but I also got some money saving tips that took me to the shed to find some items for free

I’m almost finished a beginner quilting class here and it has been the best. Karen is an excellent teacher and really thorough. I am definitely hooked on quilting and can’t wait to continue on my next class in the fall.

Excellent long arm quilting and customer service. Prior to leaving for my holiday from ON to NL I packed 3 quilt tops to take to this store to be quilted. My sister had recently picked up her quilt from there and was very pleased. The owner expressed her opinions on what pattern to use on each one and why. This was most helpful in making my decision. The quilting was amazing on all three. I went with her suggestions and she incorporated my small modifiers. On top of all this she had all 3 ready within a week so I could take them home to ON with me. Now my friends want to find a way to send their quilts to her.

You're going to want to think long and hard before signing up for a class at Around the Block. Be careful, because there are many assumptions made and extra costs. It is not beginner friendly, no refunds are given, and there is a big lack of detail on supply lists (they only tell you about a few things, but you show up and it's a whole other story). The staff were not warm or welcoming towards us, us being "young" and new to the hobby, and laughed at us when we were surprised by the supplies and the costs. I regret not walking away from the cash register at that point. You should ask all your questions up front before signing up or giving them any of your money, and make sure every detail is covered because if you change your mind they don't refund you. Myself and my friend are both currently out $290 (so $580 total) from this business that I'll likely never get back due to assumptions made by the owner that we knew everything - even though it was a beginner's course. Not pleased and still awaiting a response from the owner. Avoid this place if you can.

I shop there frequently and find the staff very friendly and helpful. There is a great selection of quilting cottons, batting, backings and thread. Competitive prices, as well!

A cute little store with a limited selection in types of fabrics...you won't find linen, muslin, silk, hemp etc here. I must have visited on an off day...the owner wasn't friendly or accommodating when I asked about these types of products so I left without purchasing anything and I will not return. Unfortunately, I'll have to spend my money at fabricville.

This is a wonderful store staff are amazing especially the new guy she hired.love all the fabric,and all the classes karen offers the new year should be exciting to see what new stuff arrives.if you need a machile this is the place to go
