We arrived on Friday evening before 8pm without a reservation and walked in to an empty lobby, it took about 5minutes for the desk clerk to come out after we hollered for somebody... finally she sold us 2 rooms upstairs because she was full... although there were only 2 other vehicles in the parking lot...

Rooms were clean with a bit of a funky smell.
Shower water pressure was great! Beds were comfortable.

$175/night seems like alot but knowing we're way up north we took it, looks like they are doing some renovations and I certainly hope with no vacancies they reinvest some $ into their exterior - pink insulation and birds nests sticking out isn't very appealing, the crumbling cement step feels like a hazard but there is a wooden step so I'm guessing they're fixing things.

We last stayed there in 2016, and were grateful that at least they'd replaced the carpet with vinyl plank.

Overall, a comfortable sleep in a somewhat dated inn, but we were just there to sleep so that's ok!

Stayed one night. Room was small but clean and bed was comfortable. For a motel this far north, it exceeded expectations. Ended up arriving after hours (after midnight) but they were able to just put a key in a box outside the door with a lock. Would stay here again.

Beds were comfy, clean, quiet, AC was great but the black out curtains were holy.
The horse flys and deer flys are annoying during the day cause of that you can't leave you door open but the second floor was clear of the Flys. But I will stay there again.

This is a dated motel in one of the NWT's working towns--rough around the edges, but enjoyable where it counts. We found our room well kept and clean, tidy with friendly staff. FD manager Tannis was happy to chat about local tips about enjoying the Hay River area.||That said, it's also not a hotel for people needing deluxe accommodations either--it's not the best western or a Wyndham. it's a small town motel at its best.||Morning breakfast was continental style and fine enough..could be improved if a protein was offered. 😉 Would stay again if in the area--just found the room a bit pricy for what was available.

The people at the North Country Inn are very friendly and helpful.The accommodastion is dated and in the process of being upgraded.||The room is small and recently painted. The AC unit is in the window and could be considered vintage, however after the Lady pushed a few buttons, it sprung into action, and cooled the place. Hey, think of where you are, what else is available and make yourself comfortable for a night or two. A continental breakfast is included as part of the payment of about $125.00 plus change.||The recommended restaurant, within a block and a bit of this property offers a form of Chinese food that may not be to the liking of many. However the locals seem to congregate there and enjoy the offering. Be very careful and selective of the wine they offer by the glass. I could not drink the red wine and sent it back, because it had turned to vinegar. The white wine my wife quaffed, seemed to do the intended modifying trick and we waltzed back to the motel, well...not really satiated food wise, but full from the experience. It was great speaking to the other owner in the morning before we left. He had just finished his term as Mayor of Hay River. A very nice person:-)

My wife and I stayed here 1 night on our bus ride from Yellowknife. With advance notice, they were waiting on our arrival at 10:30pm. After quick check in, we went to our nicely heated rear room. Although somewhat aged, it had everything we needed, coffee maker, flat screen, outfitted bathroom, and a quiet night's sleep. We even saw a splendid display of the Northern Lights at the rear of the property. What stood out was the breakfast with cereal, fruit, bagels and yogurt. The owner and receptionist were very nice and we were close by to meet the 9AM bus to Fort Smith.

5/5 Room had nice amenities and super comfy beds. Stayed for one night. Check-in staff was super friendly. Met the owner the following morning upon check-out who was also very friendly and engaging. Would stay again.

I only stayed one night and it was very clean and comfortable. The staff was incredible to us, as our vehicle had mechanical issue we found ourselves needing to have parts delivered and being from out of town needed an address to deliver to. They allowed the parts to come to their address and it was 10 days after our stay before the parts arrived they called as soon as the parts arrived. I was very grateful for their friendliness and stopped by for a visit twice during our waite and felt very welcomed each time. Thankful for their kind friendly environment. I would stay there again without doubt.
