I brought in my wedding dress that was way too long for me. Diane took me in right away. I tried on the dress and we discussed what could and what probably shouldn’t be done with the train. I agreed with her, as she’s a seamstress and I am not. A week and a half later, my dress was ready. I tried the dress on and it fits perfectly and I’m very happy with the end result. Diane is very kind and makes sure you are happy before you leave her business. Would definitely recommend her. Very affordable rates as well

In January, I brought my mother’s vintage wedding dress to Diane for alterations. The dress had some small issues, particularly on the top, where a few pieces were torn, but these did not compromise the overall integrity of the dress. During our initial consultation, we discussed my expectations in detail, and Diane provided valuable insight into what could and couldn’t be done. Her expertise gave me confidence that the dress was in good hands, and we agreed on a plan moving forward.

The first update I received was to come in for a fitting to check the progress of the alterations. When I tried on the dress, we both agreed to take in the sides slightly, and Diane suggested adding straps, which I agreed to. However, during the next fitting, which I attended with my sister-in-law for a second opinion, I noticed the straps were placed at the very edge of my shoulders and felt loose. Diane explained she couldn’t bring them in closer without adding a facing (a term I wasn’t familiar with at the time) so I reluctantly agreed to proceed as is. This, unfortunately, marked the beginning of the issues.

Later, Diane charged me extra for adding cups to the dress, which I had to purchase separately and find a place to purchase them. By the fourth fitting, I was completely disheartened. The dress had visible pleating in the front, the zipper in the back bulged out awkwardly, and the straps wrapped uncomfortably under my armpits (due to the lack of a facing). Ultimately, I paid $450 for alterations that left the dress in worse condition than when I brought it in. I ended up taking it to another seamstress to fix everything that should have been done correctly the first time.

I’m incredibly disappointed, especially since Diane repeatedly claimed to be the best in town. Based on my experience, I would not recommend her for significant or complex alteration jobs.

I debated for a long time about whether or not to write this review, but I ultimately decided to share my experience because I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through what I did. It’s important to me that others are aware of the potential issues before committing to such an important and costly service.

Response**

I appreciate the time and effort you put into working on my mother’s dress, and I understand that the dress had some pre-existing issues when I brought it to you. However, I want to clarify a few points.

While it’s true that the dress had some damage the issues I mentioned in my review such as the loose straps, pleating in the front, and the zipper bulging out were not present when I first brought the dress in. These problems arose after the alterations were completed, and they significantly impacted the fit and appearance of the dress.

I did express my concerns during the fittings, particularly about the straps and the overall fit, but I was assured that the dress looked fine and that the issues couldn’t be addressed further without additional work. As someone who is not a seamstress, I trusted your expertise and relied on your guidance throughout the process.

While I understand that you feel the dress fit well and looked beautiful, my experience was different. I left feeling discouraged and ultimately had to take the dress to another seamstress to correct the problems. I shared my review to provide an honest account of my experience, as I believe it’s important for others to have all the information before making a decision.

Again, I appreciate the work you put into the dress, but my intention with the review was to share my perspective and help others make informed choices. I hope you can understand where I’m coming from. It was an expensive service that was waisted.
