I've had a V6 in valley speed machine shop for well over two years, still nothing just crickets, talked with him at 2 years with 50% money down, I said I would like it soon ,he says one week ,went back nothing, more crickets still waiting, my recommendation go elsewhere,if you want your engine back.
Update July 2024..after 800+ days I picked up my v6 engine, incomplete ,no performance cam ,no hi v oil pump,no ARP bottom end bolts,no assembly. I was quoted 3000 ,paid 2900 incomplete, not impressed with his quote, get it in writing,he says he forgot what I ordered. The other shop in town was much closer to the actual cost .Trevor is way out to lunch
Soo here's an update, after purchasing the rest of the parts, cam lifters h.v.oil pump gaskets, I had a 50yr engine builder, Roger M. Come by to assemble my 3.1 engine he tells me the crank has not been balanced,no machining. Next went to install the pistons Trevor had supplied, they were almost all marked up, little dents and one ring land was chipped, not to mention the wrist pins were not centered on the connecting rods, which could lead to premature failure.
Then I find out the pistons are dished , which would lower my compression to around 8:1 , I had asked for 10:1 final compression. I was charged 500$ for the wrong pistons, the stock pistons were flat tops around 8.5:1.Also noticed the stock oil pump mounting flange was broken off. If Trevor had put this engine together as planned I would have had a non balanced low compression POS.
If you had an engine built at valley speed lately I Encourage you to check your engine compression,10:1 shld give approximately 150psi . Trevor is a bull shipper, thx.

Have had nothing but bad to say nothing done when said and not a performance shop at all..had three motors go on me thinking it was cam and lifters and it was because heads were not prepared properly my new guy figured it out tech heads were not opened up for bigger cam and lifter rods hanging up had three motors not get past 10 min break in..then he did a redo on my expensive motor not checking piston to valve clearance ..then it dropped valve in 5min running buggerd my good performance world head..he was to redo after waiting two race seasons with excuses I get a motor back first thing I took head off to see what he did to fix it. He didn't wouldn't pressure up then rotating assembly was hard to turn ...6of 8 pistons were ringed wrong pulled apart my good h beam rods are gone.......he had put the old rings back in wrong and my rods are gone...take off harmonic ballance find out the threads are buggerd he put in hello coil instead of fixing...list is on and on poorest work I have ever seen taking to court wouldn't make things right

Scammed my CC 3500 dollars. Ordered a sound system for my bike, 3 months of no contact I claimed the fraudulent charge through AMEX. The parts were sent, magically that day. (and showed up one week after i made the claim. I returned the parts to the shop (have confirmation emails as well as delivery notification from canada post). The shop then claimed I hadn't send parts back, and recharged my credit card. I will be pursuing this legally, but for anyone else thinking of ordering from this shop, steer clear.

This is a rather rare and expensive 6 cylinder 4.0L Toyota turbo diesel that Valley Speed did the machine work on while I was rebuilding it in 2014.

I have not spoken up, other than to inform them at the time of their mistake, but having seen other examples of poor engine assembly and machine work coming out of this shop, I feel it is important to speak up.

The block was bored to 1st oversize, and new pistons were fitted. During the machining process, it is very clear that their machinist completely screwed up the boring process and severely over-chamfered several of cylinders.

This mistake has lead to ongoing issues with sealing the cylinders as the diameter of the bore at the chamfered point is larger in diameter than the combustion sealing ring of the head gasket. Factory head gaskets are not able to seal this engine as the combustion gases leak under the gaskets and cause the cooling system to purge its contents.

The solutions were to either return the block to Valley Speed from where I'm located on the Island and having it re-machined and liners installed, or getting custom MLS head gaskets installed.

I was not prepared to let Valley Speed have anything to do with my engine, and there was very little concern shown when I originally told them about the problems they created.

I chose to not send it back - very time consuming and expensive - and instead opted to have (very expensive) custom MLS gaskets made - this has not been perfect solution.

I don't know what's happened to this machine shop over the past years; I had heard many good things prior to taking my engine here for work. But now other people I know have also had very bad experiences here - and Valley Speed has not stepped up to the plate in any way, rather they choose to accuse their customers of making errors themselves and deny any part in the errors they are making.

I would suggest that anyone who is thinking of taking work here should seriously consider going to machine shop that will back up their work, demonstrate ownership and responsibility for their mistakes, empathize with clients they have seriously inconvenienced, and make good on what they have screwed up.

I ask lots of questions and I had good experience taking the top end of 1970's motor there to be cleaned up and have heads shaved. Trevor was always friendly and enthusiastic, always had the stages of work completed when he said he would. Charged a price based off quote and not like other mechanic shops I went to that quoted $100+/hour which made me nervous- I appreciated knowing the price up front. I would feel confident to bring them work again. When I went there with another project previously, they consulted and reviewed my blown motor and steered me to other options that worked better for me. I feel they are true pros with the clients best interests at heart.
