Recently, I experienced the breakdown of a specialty piece of equipment which, in turn, was the result of the structural failure of a single component.

The equipment was dated, and after an hour on-line search, it became apparent that I would likely have to have the failed piece custom fabricated - if I wished to keep the unit operating.

After measuring and photographing the equipment, and having the failed part in hand, I visited four independent machine shops in my area over the better part of the following day. Each shop in turn, quoted me costs all well beyond that which I considered reasonable - when I had left home that morning.

It was the end of the day, at the fifth and last shop on my list that I visited Talvan Machine Shop in Surrey.

Talvan quoted me an all-in price that was a fraction of that of other shops, and less than half that of the next closest quote.

Within 72 hours, ‘Just-in’ time to meet the promised turnaround period, I was able to pickup the newly fabricated part - along with duplications…just in case. The new parts were machined to the exacting specifications that I had requested and were fabricated from a superior metal than that of the original.

If Google offered a sixth star, these guys would get it.

The support staff and the machinists that I dealt with at Talvan, were over-the-top accommodating. Together, they reflected a level of customer service and expertise that belied the understated facade of this highly recommended local machine shop.
